What is Fix Pack?
A Fix Pack is a product update that contains a cumulative collection of code fixes that have been made since the last release of the product. These code fixes may be a result of several interim fixes as well as other code fixes identified to be important to our customers.
Fix packs within a release are always cumulative; for example, 8.4.0 FP2 includes all the fixes from 8.4.0 FP1. Fix Packs are language independent.
Cognos TM1 Vs Transformer
One of the most important decision that TM1 Developers need to make during design phase is to decide whether to use Rules or TI processes to move data between cells or cubes.
Below are some of the important things to consider while making this decision:-
Frequency of data movement:-
Even if developers are using Feeders efficiently, calculating cells using rules will still add some overhead in terms of processing power. If too many cells need to be calculated, loading a cube can take too long. Turbo Integrator processes on the other hand will place calculated values in the target cells and there would be no additional overhead while the cubes are being loaded or views are being changed by the user.
Rules and their corresponding feeders add to the memory usage on the server when the calculated cells are accessed directly or through other cells which might require values from calculated cells.
All these parameters should be considered all together and not in isolation while deciding between Rules and TI Processes.
Setting up a Cognos 8 gateway in IIS 7.0 has been an issue for most administrators. The setup is not straight-forward as in IIS 6, and can also lead to server security being compromised if this is not setup correctly.
During the lifecycle of your IBM Cognos 8 application you may need to update IBM Cognos 8 with a Service Pack, Fix Pack, hotsite or other IBM Cognos updater. In any of these cases, report validation is a must. This is where IBM Cognos Upgrade Manager can help.
Arun has a great article on Yahoo covering the upcoming changes to the Hadoop architecture. The post provides some background on Hadoop, and discusses the changes to resource management and job scheduling/monitoring at a high level.
Initiate Systems is a privately held company based in Chicago, IL and marks the 30th acquisition IBM has made to advance its capabilities in information and analytics. Financial details were not disclosed.
The software speeds the adoption and exchange of electronic medical records. With easier access to accurate information, medical professionals can recognize patients at any facility within a health network with access to complete medical histories of patients, resulting in more timely and better informed patient care. Like IBM, Initiate is committed to industry standards and its technologies support relevant healthcare regulations and standards including HL7 and HIPAA.http://www-03.ibm.com/press/us/en/pressrelease/29305.wss

Running a Cognos report requires several pieces of information. First, it needs to know where the report is located. Then it needs to know if you want to run the report or view saved output, and in which format. If you want it to run the report, what should it do with the output? Save it? Show it? Email it? And finally it will need values for any report prompts.
This is just a sample of the information the Cognos server needs before it can run a report. And so far you are required to use Cognos interfaces to change them. But what if you wanted to run the report and supply all, or some of those values yourself?
